Hello! My name is Lauren Hunt and I am a fifth grade teacher at Grove Elementary. I grew up in Bloomington and am proud to say that Unit 5 has always been my home! I attended Towanda Elementary, Northpoint Elementary, Kingsley Junior High, and graduated from Normal Community High School. I received a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Special Education at Eastern Illinois University, and am currently seeking my Master's in Teaching and Learning at Illinois State University.
I began my teaching career outside of Champaign/Urbana teaching fourth grade at Unity West Elementary School. The 2018-2019 school year will be my third year teaching at Grove Elementary School and my second year teaching fifth grade! I taught special education my first year at Grove. My favorite part of teaching is developing relationships with the students. I also have a passion for creating engaging and rigorous lessons that align with student interests and learning goals!
On the weekeds and in the summers I enjoy taking quick trips to cities in the Midwest- like Milwaukee, Indianapolis, or St. Louis! I love trying new restaurants and finding tourist spots, like great ice-cream or fun zoos! I relax by going for walks, spending time with my friends and family, attending sporting events, and reading great books!
